Luca Marini believes that Honda can now make ‘impossible’ after his ‘mistake’ at The Thai Grand Prix

Luca Marini fits the best results of the Honda RC213V in the 2025 era that opens the Grand Prix in Buriram and believes that the “impossible” is now possible.

The 27 -year -old started his second campaign with Works Honda Crew on Sunday after joining Marc Marquez in 2024. Life with the Japanese brand was initially tough for the Italians, as Marini did not score VR46.

Marini turned to turn a corner with his performances on the RC213V towards the end of the last term and his adjustment to the Honda bike continued in the new campaign with 12th place at The Thai Grand Prix. Only two times last year Marini ended as high as the P12 in any race.

Luca Marini believes ‘impossible’ is now for Honda after the recovery of Thailand’s Grand Prix

One of Marini’s P12 ends in his first term with Honda last year even came to Buriram. The native Urbino first got the best result of the RC213V on Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, causing a series of points in five of the last seven rounds in 2025.

Marini is “very satisfied” to record another P12 in the Thai GP, where Marquez left Francesco Bagnaia looking at Beeten to start in 2025, after the Honda rider made a costly “mistake” failed to deal with the launch device. He saw 2020 Moto2 Runner-up Drop from P16 to the last.

The bending of the road behind the back of the field to finish in P12 after falling on the P22 is a feat Marini believes he would have the foot “impossible” in Honda last year. But the feat is now 2025 after an encouraging start as the second best Honda, with LCR’s Johann Zarco on P8.

“At first, there was a mistake on my part,” Marini said, through Motorsport.com. “I arrived last in the grid, so hurry when I did the process. I was in a hurry to connect the launch device, which then did not activate, and started without it.

“With today’s bicycles, it only gets a little detail like this to find the last one in the first corner. But then I made a good return to 12th place. And I have to be very pleased because last year it was impossible to think of returning like that.

Marquez deliberately abandoned the Buriram lead to his brother, Alex Marquez, to bring the pressure of the front tire. But as soon as the Spaniard with the minimum number of rounds with legal pressure, he comfortably passed Ace Gresini and ran to win in Buriram last weekend.

“I think we have won four tenths compared to 2024,” Marini continued. “Last year we were, perhaps, 1.2 seconds behind Ducati and now we are potential eight tths. Althegh we don’t know if Marc Marquez still has something in his pocket.

“He also had to manage the pressure of the front tires in the race. But I think we can approach the season and I hope it will happen as soon as possible.
