Marc Marquez and his brother Alex talked to their mother in the Cooldown Hall after the Grand Prix of Thailand. They had finished one two in a MotoGP race for the first time.

This was Marquez SR’s 63rd victory in the top class and the sixth time his younger brother was on the podium. But they have never landed in the first three lines in this order.

The Thai Grand Prix weekend was the Marquez Show as the Spanish twin Tok one-two in the qualifying and held by Francesco Bagnaia. After a relatively unstable sprint, Marc had to move on and leave Alex in the main race.

The Ducati Factory rider had noticed that tire pressures were out of the permitted range. This was in danger of a 16 -second sentence that would send him to be reduced under the order.

The fall behind Alex allowed him to cover the tire back to the legal window. He then fell again with three rounds to go and stretch his advantage before the flag.

Marquez’s father felt “caused” as he watched from the garage in Buriram. The difference between bicycles 2024 and 2025 remains relatively small for now, giving Alex the platform to compete.

Her feeling is that Marquez “declares the champion” with 21 rounds to go. It would be his first title since 2019, and his seventh at MotoGP – which fits Valentino Rossi.

Neil Hodgson says Marquez landed in a “knockout punch” in Bagnaia after a single race. But Alenta is “scared” and not “excited”.

It may be cautious of Bagnaia struggling behind, or or an external threat that emerges. But more than that, perhaps, knows that a fall can change everything, after seeing Marquez passing through the hell of injury after the 2020 Jerez crash.

“I feel a little scared, because I am afraid they will be seduced,” Alennta told her sons. “I don’t already like Marc to declare the champion.

“In Thailand everything went well, but we have to relax, constantly do well through the year and check the euphoria. This is what I said, I am the first to be very happy, but I am not excited because I am afraid.

Marquez has already created a psychological advantage in Bagnaia, or so it seems. The Italian must enter the second race in Argentina with a chip on his shoulder in the light of recent coverage.

Bagnaia tried to leave the press conference early in Thailand, a sign of his frustration. Felt a bit ignored as all the questions were directed to the first two.

Most worrying of all, Mat Oxley says that Ducati’s engineers are already borne by Marquez. For so long the number one, Bagnaia has to win them.

A close confidential believes that Marquez is an improved rider in Ducati. He is much more parachute than he was in Honda, which will undoubtedly be reassuring for his mother.
